'Dance Sweets' at York Early Music Festival, International Young Artists Competition

  • National Centre for Early Music St Margaret's Church York UK (map)

Ensemble Molière are proud to have been selected as finalists for this years International Young Artists Showcase at the York Early Music Festival. In the final of this competition Ensemble Molière present an instrumental programme comprised of delicious little morsels, each a tantalising example of the elegance and frisson of French baroque dance.

In the 18th Century, dancing was one of the most celebrated arts of French society and often these dances would be grouped into suites to show to full gamut of technique, style and grace. In this programme we celebrate the crème de la crème of this rich tradition; starting with a light appetiser of Lully, we move onto more indulgent Rameau and complex Couperin, creating our very own selection of Dance Sweets!

Tickets can be purchased via the National Centre for Early Music website

Performers: Flavia Hirte, Ellen Bundy, Kate Conway, Satoko Doi-Luck-Luck and Jakab Kaufmann.
