Hidden Gems at the Handeliade (21-24 September)
There is a wealth of underperformed French Baroque chamber music, much of which has remained out of the limelight for centuries. This programme seeks to showcase some of these ‘hidden gems’, and to set them alongside their more frequently performed counterparts. Handel’s famous Trio Sonata HWV 390 is paired with a dramatic trio by Dandrieu, while Guillemain’s Sonate en Quatuor echoes the conversational virtuosity of Telemann’s Paris Quartets. These juxtapositions show well-known favourites in a new light, while introducing and championing some rarely-heard masterpieces.
